Apple is currently working on developing a new music app that will be entirely dedicated to classical music. Notably, the company took over the classical music platform Primephonic earlier in 2021, and Apple has been working on its new project dedicated to classical music ever since.

Earlier, Apple made the news of the acquisition of Primephonic public and also announced that Apple would fold the music platform into Apple’s own music streaming service, Apple Music. After the company’s acquisition, Apple Music subscribers would access classical music on their devices. At the same time, also the integration would provide the users with an improved classical music experience. Apple had said that the integration would first offer Primephonic playlists and audio content, followed by a dedicated Primephonic experience with improved browsing and search capabilities and better classical music metadata.

Moreover, Apple had also announced that it would launch a new Apple Music app solely dedicated to classical music sometime in 2022. The new music app will make use of Primephonic’s user interface and specializations for classical music with Apple Music, and the new platform will offer features such as Lossless and Spatial Audio. Interestingly, Apple’s job site now shows a listing for a UX Designer; in other words, Apple is looking for a new UX Designer who will work on the new app in the classical music team. Moreover, the job listing also reveals that Apple is likely to focus on visual, audial, and haptic aspects for the new music app.

Primephonic is no longer available for new subscribers, and those with an active subscription have been offered six months of access to Apple Music for free. Primephonic’s website now reads, “We are working on an amazing new classical music experience from Apple for early next year.”
