Apple buys music data analytics service Asaii for expansion of Apple Music function. As reported by Axios, Apple’s deal to buy Asaii was worth less than $100 million, closing the service on the 14th of October.
Asaii was introduced as a music analysis laboratory, A & R personnel, Management Company, etc. as an analysis tool to find newcomers with hit content using song play count and associated data from Apple Music, Facebook, Instagram, SoundCloud, Spotify and Twitter, the firm’s technology scoured the internet to deliver new and popular tracks to industry insiders.
It can help Apple compete with Spotify Technology SA’s efforts to work directly with smaller artists, like a music label, the report added.
Apple has also acquired the music discovery app Shazam that will help to compete with Spotify, the industry leader in music streaming services.
This acquisition by Apple is expected to strengthen the activities of Apple Music, which supports new artists and labels, including improving the accuracy of music data analysis tools provided by Apple Music.
