In a bid to compete with Samsung in terms of foldable smartphones, the American smartphone giant Apple is reportedly working on a folding screen device with an eight-inch QHD+ Samsung AMOLED screen.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who confirmed the development, noted that the upcoming Apple foldable smartphone is expected to be unveiled by 2023.
Over the years, the likes of Samsung, Motorola, and Huawei, have been leading manufacturers of foldable smartphones. Recently, Xiaomi unveiled its first Mi Mix Fold smartphone to join its counterparts in the foldable smartphone market.
However, apart from the 8-inch screen, reports revealed that the upcoming foldable device would use a TPK’s nanosilver wire touch technology. As a result, the device’s method already offers more benefits than Samsung’s Y-Octa technology.
Foldable devices from major tech companies like Samsung and Huawei are already on the market. According to Kuo, Apple will have a competitive advantage in the developing foldable trend due to its cross-product ecosystems and hardware design advantages. Apple, he believes, will be the greatest winner in the foldable smartphone market.
Last year, the mobile giant was rumored to be testing two different folding iPhone prototypes, one with a dual-screen design and the other opening vertically like a flip phone.
