Apple is rumored to add new display technology, One Glass Solution(OGS), replacing Glass (G/G) technology in next-generation Apple Watch. As per the DigiTimes report, sourced from Apple supplier TPK Holding, the company is planning to replace current technology in the upcoming Apple Watch 2.
DigiTimes is a popular Taiwan-based website that shares rumors gleaned from Apple’s Asian supply chains. The publication also reports that OGS will also wipe out the one layer of glass from the previous model(G/G); it had two chunks of glasses, which will be replaced over the layer with thinner material. This will slightly increase a small amount of internal space, possibly giving space for enhanced display.
TPK admits that there are some technical issues regarding OGS productions, which may take down the rates for touch panels.
“The large loss for the second quarter was mainly because touch panel orders for iPhones continued to decrease, and Apple will change touch panel technology from G/G to OGS (one glass solution) in the new Apple Watch to be launched in the second half of 2016, TPK said.”
If the report is to be taken into consideration, the second generation Apple Watch will be light-weighted compared to the current model. Apple Watch 2 is overcast by news related to its updated design, cellular connectivity, flash processor, and emended battery.
If we talk about the supposed truth, it may launch in September 2016, in the company with the new iPhone and iPhone 7 Plus.
