Following the recent deployment of the watchOS 10.1.1 update for Apple Watch, a wave of dissatisfaction has swept through the user community, echoing concerns over the removal of the beloved swipe-up option. Despite Apple’s claims that this update is the most significant since the inception of the Apple Watch, users are expressing frustration and disappointment.
The watchOS 10.1.1 update, touted by Apple as a monumental advancement, promises a refreshed appearance for nearly every app, innovative navigation methods, and the introduction of the Smart Stack feature to display crucial information from any watch face promptly. Among the noteworthy features, the update brings enhanced capabilities for cycling workouts and hiking, a new mental health experience in the Mindfulness app for reflection, and the ability to track daylight exposure.
The Missing Swipe-Up Option Sparks Outcry
Despite the commendable additions, a chorus of discontent has arisen as users express their dissatisfaction on Apple Discussion forums. Notably, the removal of the swipe-up option, previously utilized for tasks like locating one’s phone, checking battery status, and more, has triggered frustration among users.
@MandaC684 initiated the discussion, lamenting the disappearance of the swipe-up option and expressing frustration over the redundancy of information already present on the watch face.
“My watch was updated to version 10.1.1 earlier in the week. I just noticed that the swipe-up option to get to ping my phone is gone. It now gives me a calendar, my fitness, a shortcut to text, and the weather. This is all the stuff I have in my infographics face. Why take away this option? Where was it moved to? I cannot locate it anywhere. I don’t need two spots for things on my watch for it to take away two. I’ve tried googling this and cannot find a single thing. Tips led me nowhere. Am I missing something? If it’s completely gone, how do I uninstall the update?
Adding to the chorus of complaints, @ro1947 reported that: “I hate the new change. I want my old swipe back. Any way to get it back?”
Despite the growing discontent, Apple has not officially addressed the concerns raised by users. The absence of a response leaves users grappling with the changes, eagerly anticipating an acknowledgment and a potential restoration of the beloved Swipe-Up Option in forthcoming updates.
