Apple’s Global Facilities Are Now Powered by 100 Percent Renewable Energy

Cupertino-based tech giant Apple announced that its facilities are now powered by 100% clean energy worldwide, while nine more of its suppliers have also committed to producing 100 percent clean energy as well.

The total number of supplier commitments is now 23, including retail stores, offices, data centers, and co-located facilities in the United States, the United Kingdom, China, and India, as well as 39 other countries worldwide. For Apple CEO Tim Cook, energy conservation and sustainable development initiatives are a matter of pride, and he vows to keep to this uplifting task in the future as well.

Apple has joined hands with its partners to develop renewable energy projects for the local communities, states, and even entire countries, spanning a wide range of clean energy. Exploring the utilization of energy sources from solar arrays, wind farms, biogas fuel cells, micro-hydro generation systems, energy storage technologies, and more.

Apple is currently running 25 operational projects that generate a whopping 626 megawatts of energy, including a hefty 286 megawatts of solar PV generation that came online in 2017. The company has 15 more projects in the pipeline, which will generate over 1.4 gigawatts of clean renewable energy across 11 countries.
