Last month, a report claimed that Asus would launch the ROG Phone 2 on July 23. Well, that report has now been fulfilled as the company confirmed the launch date on the Chinese social network Weibo.
On July 23 in China, ASUS is announcing the second generation of the ROG gaming smartphone. Now a new product has been noticed in the database of the China Compulsory Certification (3C) regulator.
Certification revealed that the smartphone will be released in two versions with model numbers I001DA and I001DB. The first will receive fast charging at 18W, like the flagship Asus ZenFone 6, and the second one at 30 W. For comparison, its competitors Nubia Red Magic 3 and Xiaomi Black Shark 2 have a smaller power fast charge: 27 W and 25 W respectively.
There are no other details about the new smartphone in the documents, but we already know that the device’s main feature will be a display with a refresh rate of 120 GHz. In addition, the ASUS ROG Phone 2 is credited with a 7-nm Snapdragon 855 processor with overclocked frequency, up to 12 GB of RAM, a triple camera and a 4000-5000 mAh battery. Tencent is working on the gaming capabilities of the device. The price tag of the smartphone will start from $650.
The ROG Phone 2 will succeed the ROG Phone that was announced last year and will have a 120Hz screen, which is an update on the 90Hz screen with which its predecessor came. Details are sparse on the ROG Phone 2 at this time, but the phone recently obtained 3C certification, which reveals that it will come with a fast 30-watt charging stand. However, the original ROG phone supported a 30-watt fast charge, so it’s not a big surprise.
It is expected that the smartphone Asus ROG Phone 2 will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 single-chip system, up to 12 GB of RAM, an improved cooling system and a luminous logo. The Asus ROG Phone 2 can come out with additional accessories designed for gamers.
