At a press event in Spain, Asus launched ZenFone 6 with quite a unique offering as it comes with a rotating camera. Asus has adopted a different implementation for the ZenFone 6.
Unlike a pop-up camera or a punch-hole front camera, the ZenFone 6 gets a Flip Camera. The rear camera flips to the front when the user needs to take a video call or a selfie. The camera module relies on a motorized stepper motor that can change angles by a variation of 2 degrees, thereby offering more versatility for shutterbugs.
From a design perspective, the Asus Zenfone 6 has the same signature glass and metal design, but it looks way different from its predecessor. A 6.4-inch FHD+ IPS display dominates the front of the device. It has virtually no bezel on any side, and there’s no notch or punch-hole camera.
As for the cameras, the ZenFone 6 gets a dual camera, using a combination of a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 sensor as a primary unit and a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera as the second unit. There’s no OIS, and the phone is relying on EIS for stability. The unique Flip Camera also makes for a fullscreen display without any notch on the top. It measures 6.4-inches and uses an LCD panel with a resolution of full HD+. The bezels are incredibly narrow, but the chin is slightly thick.
As for the pricing, the new Asus ZenFone 6 starts at EUR 499 (Rs 39,000 approx) for the 6GB + 64GB variant, EUR 559 (Rs 44,000 approx) for the 6GB + 128GB version, and EUR 599 (Rs 47,000 approx) for the top of the line 8GB + 256GB version. Official India pricing and availability is yet to be revealed.
