Battery Size is Blamed for Galaxy Note 7 Fire, Reveals Samsung Investigation

Samsung finally could figure out the reason behind Galaxy Note 7 battery blunder. A report in The Wall Street Journal shows the investigation details that the company was going through third-party analyst firms for the last couple of months.

The investigation blames “irregularly sized” batteries and their manufacturing faults for the widespread faults of the Galaxy Note 7. The South Korean tech giant will officially reveal its results on Monday.

For investigation, Samsung hired three independent “quality-control and supply-chain analysis” firms. These firms listed two separate faults that affected the Note 7 and pointed fingers mainly at the battery size of the device.

The first fault is related to Galaxy Note 7, which used batteries made by Samsung subsidiary Samsung SDI. The Galaxy Note 7 had received largely positive reviews and was off to a strong start before this overheating issue. These batteries created problems like it didn’t fit inside the phone properly, which led to overheating and, explosions in major cases. The second fault was related to manufacturing, which is still not clear although the full report can shed light on the actual reason.

On Monday, Samsung has to conclude its investigation of its flagship smartphone, and needs to determine the main culprit. Seeing that the battery was the part of the handset and the major reason for the explosion, this comes as little surprise.
