Bad news for Battlefield lovers, the latest 5.0, which was scheduled to launch on October 9th, 2018, has been delayed. The new version is supposed now to launch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 20, which isn’t too far, is it?

Developer DICE issued an official statement on publisher EA’s website explaining the team’s reasoning behind the delay. In the statement, the company says the delay will give developer DICE additional development time to fine-tune the game as it sees fit, “to make some final adjustments to the core gameplay”. The makers added that they want some extra time to ensure that they get it perfectly alright.

For those who aren’t familiar, Battlefield is a series of first-person shooter video games that started out on Microsoft Windows and OS X with Battlefield 1942, which was released in 2002. The last update of the game was released on 2016.

We’re going to take the time to continue to make some final adjustments to core gameplay, and to ensure we really deliver on the potential of Tides of War. – Oskar Gabrielson, general manager of developer DICE

October is already filled to the brim with new releases like Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 hitting on Oct. 12 and Red Dead Redemption 2 hitting on Oct. 26. Perhaps due to the flooding of so many game releases, recent reports have shown that the number of pre-orders was currently below expectations. The delay can be a strategy to increase the market base.

The team wants to ensure its Tides of War live service, which DICE describes as “a journey across multiple theaters of WW2 and designed to keep our community together” in the new statement, is up to par when Battlefield 5 launches. EA confirmed the upcoming Battlefield V open beta will still go live as planned on September 6.
