In case you missed it, the video game RAGE now has a sequel, and it has actually overshadowed other games recently released in June at the E3 conferences.

Rage 2 already raised questions like why a game such as Rage would have a sequel, and so on. It was leaked right before the conferences and has done wonders for the developers, on contrary to an established fact that leaks mess up the marketing plans of the distributors.

The developers Bethesda, id, and Avalanche have taken this leak to heart, as the game could actually become a talking point among journalists surpassing other games. That’s like a bad curse turning to a good boon and oh how perfectly!

Developers have planned like the usual, like releasing some pre-E3 teasers and supporting the buildup of the E3 conversations. The leak brought additional goodies to the marketers, with numerous reporters coming up with questions surrounding the game.

The main rivalry for Rage 2 is against Fallout 76 and that’s of Bethesda as well. Tim Willits, the id Software studio director compared this game with a 55,000-ton gorilla, adding that it could cannibalize the conversation for Rage 2.

He said: “That’s why I positioned this as the post-post-apocalyptic game. From the story and the different biomes we’ve created, we tried to evolve the game past the 50 shades of brown we had in RAGE and Avalanche had in Mad Max. So we really embraced the colors, the vibrancy of the personalities, the characters, the story, and of course the marketing, which has done really well for us. You have to be at the top of the scale, otherwise, you’re just at that bottom. You’re ballast.”

In response to questions on releasing multiple post-apocalyptic games within the same window, Willits said that the genre provides space for developers to explore various aspects where gamers can relate to.
