With the conclusion of the beta period of Overwatch 2, fans of the game might be wondering what’s coming next for the sequel of the mega-popular team-based shooter game Overwatch. Released in 2016, the game still has over 5 million average players each month who are looking forward to the next best version of the game.

The game developer Blizzard Entertainment has announced that while the Overwatch 2 PvP Beta is over, there is more in store. As announced on Twitter, the next Overwatch 2 event is scheduled for the 16th of June, which is rumored to be something big.

Blizzard Entertainment Announces New Event for Overwatch 2

Through their Overwatch Twitter, Blizzard has asked players to “save the date” for 16th June, when they’ll be sharing more details about where the game is headed. It is expected that more news will be dropped in the coming weeks, as fans await more information for the next round of betas.

While the game director Aaron Keller has claimed that the response to the first beta for Overwatch 2 was mostly positive, the player feedback seems to be less than satisfactory, but that isn’t unusual for a first beta.

“We Want to Make a Better Game,” says the Game Director of Overwatch 2

As Aaron Keller has communicated, “Overwatch as a world, as a universe, is deeply personal to the team; something that we pour our time, creative energies and passion into. It can be scary putting something that means so much to you out there for other people to look at. Especially when you know that it’s not finished and you’re asking for people’s real and valid criticisms of what you’ve made.”

“But the reason we do it is important–to make a better game,” he continues.“And it’s our players and our community that make it possible. Tests like this are a vital part of the process of improving Overwatch. We can’t wait to take everything we’ve learned from the beta and apply it to the game, and we’re so excited to get it back in front of you. – Aaron Keller

It is likely that Overwatch 2 will release in two installments of PvP and PvE. The game is much looked forward to with the beta release raking over one million views on Twitch on the first day.
