As you all know, Facebook just can’t sit idle. Every time it comes up with new technologies and amazes us. This time Facebook launched a group video chat app named “Bonfire.” At present, this app is available only on Danish iOS App Store. It will be gradually available for all the users.
Bonfire is an app that basically consists of various features from different apps, such as the current teen-fave (and Meerkat successor) HouseParty, that allows multiple users to participate in a video chat.
Bonfire allows users to decorate themselves by making use of Snapchat-style effects and also can share images from chats via Instagram, Facebook, and Messenger.
You can also invite your friends, just like you do on Facebook. On sending an invitation, your friends will be notified on both Facebook and Messenger. But, if your friends do not have access to the Danish app store, they won’t be able to participate in the chat on the app.
According to Adam Blacker of app analytics firm Apptopia, Bonfire is currently only available in Denmark and has been downloaded roughly 2,000 times. He also stated that Denmark “typically has good user retention,” which, according to him, makes it an ideal test market for new products.”
However, Bonfire is gonna be a tough competitor for HouseParty or to put it in simple words, Bonfire will overtake HouseParty at any moment. Hence, Facebook’s main target is teenagers in order to keep them intact with Facebook through Bonfire.
