We all know about Elon Musk’s dislike of Los Angeles traffic and his Boring Company working on test tunnels for providing hyperloop trips under the city. The best news regarding this has surfaced: the hyperloop rides will be provided at only $1 per passenger!

Elon Musk, at a Hyperloop info session, has revealed several other news on this. He even tweeted this morning that The Boring Company is now partners with Los Angeles Metro, tagging the announcement tweet from the official account of the Metro administration. Also, last week, he came up with a video of the 2.7 mile-test track recently permitted by LA city officials.

In the info session, Musk revealed that there are going to be miles of underground track all over the city. It will have small mini-stations that are about the size of a parking spot. These will take passengers from the streets to the underground system in high-speed pods. As promised by Musk, a trip from downtown LA to the airport and Dodger stadium will clock 8 minutes, and of course, for $1 per head. He even offered a free ride for anyone interested in testing the tunnel system.

Each small station will be able to take about 16 passengers at once. There will also be a weatherproof system in the vast system of the stations! The entire tunnel system can even increase deeper down with demand, as Musk points out that “there’s no real limit” and that “you can have hundreds of lanes.”

He added that there will be the minimal impact on the people and places up in the streets, as “It’s quite difficult to detect when a tunnel is being dug. We’re invisible.” Works for building the Hyperloop will remain undetected, as confidently clarified by him.

His eventual goal is to connect cities by the Hyperloop system, initially connecting San Francisco, New York, and Baltimore with Los Angeles. As a part of establishing the connection, he is even using the SpaceX rocket techniques for building vacuum tunnels of 300mph.

Musk welcomes all to get into a more urban experience in commuting throughout LA, which he envisions would be of 150mph trips, and only for that one dollar!

He also discussed the procedure of using battery packs and electric motors, alongside his planning on moving the massive amount of dirt. This also includes him building life-size Lego kits and seismically sound bricks.
