The highly anticipated QuietComfort 45 headphones are a successor to Bose’s renowned QC35 headphones and include increased acoustic noise-canceling technology as well as USB-C charging.

The headphones were originally seen on Aug. 31 at Adorama, with a $329 retail price tag. Customers can preorder the Bose QuietComfort 45 headphones at the time of publication, but there is no official ship date listed on the company’s product page.

According to Adorama, orders are shipped on a first-come, first-served basis, with free delivery on orders delivered within the contiguous United States.

USB-C charging is new to the QuietComfort 45, with up to 24 hours of playtime on a single charge. With the addition of a fourth microphone, the QC45 improves voice pickup.

In a competitive market that includes the popular Sony XM4 headphones and Apple AirPods Max, the synthetic leather ear cup cushions and headband are meant to deliver a luxury experience.

Users can choose between full noise cancellation (Quiet Mode) and hearing your surroundings and music at the same time in two settings (Aware Mode).

To keep up with the competition, Bose will need to add some smart features, as Sony and Apple both offer spatial audio and, for the former, Ambient Sound Control, which can modify the noise cancellation depending on where you are or what you’re doing.

The QC 45 features “world-class ANC functionality and, thanks to patented technology, offers deep, clean sound,” according to WinFuture. While pictures depict a design that folds, with a wide headband and physical control buttons.

The headphones will reportedly be shockingly light’ thanks to a blend of synthetic leather and glass-filled nylon.

As part of the ANC, the QC 45 is expected to include TriPort acoustic architecture, Active EQ, and an Aware mode.

Despite having a lower battery (460mAh versus 495mAh), the QC 45 is expected to last up to 24 hours longer than its predecessor. Fast charging provides 2.5 hours of battery life from a 15-minute charge, and full charging takes 2.5 hours via USB-C.

In addition to Bluetooth 5.1, the headphones will have a 3.5mm headphone socket for wired connectivity, extending their battery life even further.
