Activision Blizzard Esports League has announced that the first season of the new Call of Duty League will begin on January 24, 2020.

Though the Call of Duty League is labeling them “home series” weekends, according to a press release, it seems that the league will follow the Overwatch League’s homestand weekend model. Each team will host events over the weekends in their market, with the teams based in 11 different cities in North America and Europe. Operated by WISE Ventures Esports, under the ownership of the Wilf family and investor Gary Vaynerchuk, the event will be hosted by Minnesota Røkkr.

As a kick start to the 2020 season, all 12 franchises for the newly-minted Call of Duty League will participate in a three-day event in Minneapolis with the new iteration of Call of Duty’s top competitive circuit.

The big event will be held at the 8,400-person capacity Minneapolis Armory, home of the former Minneapolis Lakers and currently a concert venue. The organizers look forward to approximately 10,000 fans attending across all the days.

Featuring all 12 professional Call of Duty League teams competing alongside open bracket tournament this launch weekend as according to the press release. Tickets and team will be available soon.
