Capcom announced the release date of Resident Evil 2 remake that’s coming on January 25 next year. At the E3 2018, it has demonstrated a brand new trailer for the game.

The trailer video features Leon Kennedy wearing his classic blue Raccoon City Police Department uniform and ends with the release date. It further confirms that pre-orders for the game are open.

The remake project is led by Yoshiaki Hirabayashi. He was a producer for Resident Evil HD Remaster that was released back in January 2015. He is also a part of Capcom R&D Division 1.

The trailer didn’t show the gameplay, but it will be fully 3D-rendered. The storyline seems to move away from the original game and its remake. Developers say that there are new features like modernized control scheme and a third-person over-the-shoulder view like recent Resident Evil games. According to Capcom, it will be more like Resident Evil 4 than 2 remake.

For the avid followers of the game, Returning to Raccoon City after 20 years may bring familiar memories, but Capcom promises that there are surprises for both veterans and newcomers. There will be entirely new areas to explore and various puzzles to solve in the expansive building.

Further immersive nature of the game includes real-time damage shown by the zombies with each shot that you connect. Leon and Claire will have the stories retold, and both characters are playable through separate storylines. Familiar faces, story elements, and extra modes will bring back memories of the original 1998 release.

The Resident Evil 2 remake project was announced in 2015, and it took more than 3 years for Capcom to achieve the completion. Apart from PlayStation 4, it will come to Xbox One and PC for the price of $59.99.
