China has banned the sale and import of iPhone as a decision taken by the court amidst the trade war going between China and the United States. Now Apple has filed an appeal to overturn the lawsuit that bans iPhone sales in China.
Qualcomm claims that Apple has violated two of its patents in the iPhone models that include; iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X. The court grants the injunction as requested by Qualcomm. Though the ban does cover many models of iPhone, it does not include the new iPhone XS, iPhone XS Plus or iPhone XR, which weren’t yet accessible when Qualcomm filed its lawsuit.
The patents claimed according to Qualcomm are relating to features that enable consumers to edit photos and manage apps on smartphone touchscreens. Apple as files an appeal overturning the lawsuit says that it has not violated any patents. The company also asserts that Qualcomm is filing three patents they had never raised before, including one which has already been invalidated.
The banned models of Apple make up to 10% to 15% of the sales in the country. Qualcomm claims that Apple has violated patents relating to resizing photos on a phone and managing apps using a touchscreen while Apple denies the claims by Qualcomm.
