At a press conference held in India, the voice-first social media platform, Clubhouse, announced that it has recently added 13 new languages to the app. Including the new languages will make the app more accessible, especially to those eagerly waiting for the platform to be available in their native language. The new update provides localization services for millions of people who do not speak English or who prefer speaking in their local/native languages.
The 13 languages are French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kannada, Korean, Malayalam, Brazilian Portuguese, Spanish, Tamil, and Telugu. However, this extended list of recently added languages misses four of the world’s top ten most-spoken languages: Chinese, Arabic, Bengali, and Russian.
“It has honestly amazed us that people in so many countries have managed to come together to do this on an app that only supports English,” a PR representative for Clubhouse mentioned in a statement. As per the statements, now that the app supports more language, opens up the horizon for the app to do more, to be limitless.
The newly added languages will first be available on the Android version of the app first. In a recent report, it has come to light that more than 96% of Indian mobile users use Android smartphones, and only 3% of the entire mobile market use iOS. However, the fact remains that Clubhouse first made an app for iOS, and the company took their time before launching an Android version of the same.
In addition to the newly added 13 languages, Clubhouse has also announced a brand new app icon. The new icon features musician, singer, and songwriter Anirudh Deshmukh who had first joined Clubhouse at the start of 2021. But his channel blossomed, and now he has launched his now 72k member club called Anirudh where he hosts his nightly show.
