Coinbase Wallet is a mobile app that had only supported Ethereum (ETH) and Ethereum tokens (ERC20 and ERC721). On Wednesday Coinbase announced that Coinbase Wallet, its user-controlled wallet app for iOS and Android, is being updated to include Dogecoin (DOGE) support.
So far, the Coinbase Wallet already supports thousands of crypto assets, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum Classic, XRP, and Stellar Lumens. With the addition of DOGE, consumers can expand their holdings by even more crypto assets.
Along with holding DOGE tokens, the Wallet allows users and developers to access the DOGE Testnet, which users can do from the Advanced Settings section. The company is working to add support for other cryptocurrencies as well, which is shown by their addition of KIN and XYO to Coinbase Custody this week.
Its goal is to add support for as many digital assets as possible and make purchases, storage and transfer of cryptocurrencies as seamless and secure as possible. Adding Dogecoin to its long list of supported assets is another step towards achieving this goal.
The service is immediately available to both iOS and Android users with the Coinbase wallet app. For Dogecoin users who do not already have the Coinbase wallet, it can be easily installed from Google Play Store for Android and the Apple App Store for iOS users. The wallet also supports the DOGE Testnet as a perk for developers using the wallet as well as for power users.
