In 2013, OPPO released the ColorOS 1.0 operating system based on Android deep customization, with support for black screen gestures and three-finger screen capture; and it has journeyed for five years since, with its 5th Anniversary Event being held by OPPO at the Shekou Value Factory in Shenzhen.

In 2014, ColorOS 2.0 was released, featuring the Sky Breathing Light unveiled with OPPO Find7, and the number of ColorOS users exceeded 10 million. In 2015, the UI interface for ColorOS received a significant change, along with optimization of fluency and stability of the system; and gained a user base of over 50 million, surpassing 200 million in 2016.

Over the next few years, ColorOS received constant updates and optimizations. The ColorOS 5.0 update was introduced this year, on Color OS’s 5th anniversary, complete with a new full-screen gesture operation. ColorOS has a current user base of 250 million. The upgraded ColosOS 5.2.1 system on OPPO Find X has ushered in many feature upgrades like the addition of a lot of AI elements and joining the Hyper Boost acceleration engine developed by OPPO.

The ColorOS’s 5th Anniversary event also welcomed many changes in the future ColorOS 6 operating system introduced by its designer Chen Xi.

To begin with, ColorOS 6 uses the “borderless” design to reduce the lines on ColorOS 5 and eliminate the borders in favor of a tiled bottom layer. With this comprehensive screen, Chen Xi pointed out that ColorOS want the design to be visually lightweight and rhythmic, and attempts to reduce the amount of information on one screen; a plan not being used by other vendors. The UI display of the scene reveals that ColorOS 6 mainly changes through the “borderless color without borders” to change from real to virtual.

ColorOS 6 has added the “cold storage” function that uses AI’s intelligent algorithm to automatically learn the user’s usage habits in the background and kills the process by intelligently “freezing” functions that are not commonly used so that popularly used apps are still available when they are reopened on the user interface.

So far as animation is concerned, it forms one of the main innovations introduced in ColorOS. Users can now display the animation that the software is working on. This transition animation opens and closes the software by using a transition style similar to Apple’s iOS while sliding. The fonts on ColorOS 6 have also been redesigned with a total of five models being designed to be made officially available to users next year. As for the official launch of Color OS 6, however, it seems that users still have to wait for at least a year.
