Sony’s latest and high-demanding PlayStation 5 looks like will be the most sought-after gaming console ever. It does not look like the supply issues will cease to exist anytime soon now. This high-demand-short-supply issue has been acknowledged by the company itself. Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan has mentioned that the next-generation console will continue to be short in supply for the foreseeable future.
Sony’s launch of the new PlayStation 5 has also been the most hyped event; especially ever since the lockdown commenced, most people have been looking for new ways to be kept entertained.
The fact that Sony somehow managed to manufacture the new PlayStation successfully is a great feat in itself; there was very little doubt that the demand for the console would skyrocket. Jim Ryan, regarding the high-demand, has mentioned,
“Everything is sold. Absolutely everything is sold. I’ve spent much of the last year trying to be sure that we can generate enough demand for the product. And now in terms of my executive bandwidth, I’m spending a lot more time on trying to increase supply to meet that demand.” It goes without saying that the production amidst a pandemic had been challenging, to say the least. Sony workers were not able to enter Sony’s factories in Asia during lockdowns. “I wouldn’t plan on doing another big console launch in the midst of a global pandemic,” Ryan said. “And I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody else.”
Sony is yet to release any official number of sales for the PS5 which launched almost two weeks ago, and since then, the console has not been in stock consistently at any retailer. The fact that Sony had organized for a preorder rollout in September only made things worse.
But of course, the PS5 will not be ‘out of stock’ forever, and the interested people need to be patient until the console is restocked. The upcoming Black Friday sale is the next best chance for any user to score the gaming console.
