King has announced that it would no longer provide updates for Crash Bandicoot: On the Run. The mobile game support will be completely discontinued and will be unplayable after February of next year. The game’s shutdown is most likely due to declining revenue, and the developers will focus on their other games.
Crash Bandicoot: On the Run will not get any new levels
The official statement from the King reads, “Crash fans, it’s with a heavy heart that we inform you that on February 16, 2023, we will terminate service for Crash Bandicoot: On the Run. On that date, the servers will be taken down and the game will no longer be playable.”
Additionally, they provided specific information about the dates, adding, “From December 19, 2022, all in-app purchases will be turned off. For any purchases made, you will have until February 16, 2023, to make use of associated purple crystals in-game.”
Players can use whatever in-game money they purchase up to the game’s end, in addition to any purple crystals they may already hold, throughout that time. Those crystals will obviously disappear permanently after that date.
It is also worth noting that King recently deleted Crash Bandicoot: On the Run from the list of its games on the official website, suggesting that the developers would no longer offer the promised additional updates.
Fans of the Crash Bandicoot mobile game are undoubtedly upset by the announcement. Many players have already finished all of the game’s levels and were looking forward to new levels with an update. Fans were hoping for an update announcement, thus the news of the permanent shutdown would come as a shock for many.
A few weeks have passed since Crash Team Rumble, and the new game featuring bandicoot was officially announced. It is a cooperative platformer in which users command both the series’ heroes and antagonists in a battle. So specifically Bandicoot fans may look forward to any further announcements regarding this new game.
