Dell IFA 2018 introduces several new devices, including the Inspiron 14 5000 2-in-1s, 7000 2-in-1 laptops, the Vostro 14 and 15 5000 and premium 27 USB-C ultrathin displays and entry-level SE monitors. Apart from these, Dell also refreshed its XPS line with updates. Now, users of these models will now be able to use Modern Standby for instant-on performance.
Now it’s possible to log in with just one touch using Windows Hello and the optional SSO fingerprint reader on the power button. Selected XPS and Inspiron 2-in-1s will have the function of working from across the room.
The new Inspiron 14 5000 2-in-1 (5482) is equipped with 8th generation Intel Core processors. It has up to 16GB of DDR4 memory and high-end storage options such as PCIe NVMe SSDs, dual drive configurations and/or Intel Optane Memory. The USB port can be used for several purposes such as charging the laptop or transferring data. It comes with a narrow border and an Active Pen compatible touchscreen. The palm rest is made of cool aluminum and the starting price of this series of the laptop is $599.99. The 13, 15 and 17 7000 2-in-1s have almost the same features but the Black Edition comes with a UHD screen, a newly improved webcam.
The 17 7000 2-in-1 comes with a 17.3-inch FHD IPS touchscreen. It has a fully functional USB Type-C port for docking. This comes in platinum silver and Abyss Black color. The Platinum Silver with FHD screen as Inspiron 13 7000 2-in-1 and the Platinum Silver with FHD screen as Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 are priced at $879.99, and $849.99 respectively. The Abyss Black with UHD screen as Inspiron 15 7000 2-in-1 Black Edition and the 17 7000 2-in-1 starting is priced at $1,249.99 and $1,099.99 respectively.
The new Vostro laptop has 8th Gen Intel Core processors, USB Type-C port optional Single-Sign-On fingerprint reader and a two-sided narrow border. It also features a commercial-grade protection hardware TPM 2.0. These laptops also reduce power consumption by automatically switching the system to battery power during certain times of the day, even if the system is plugged into a direct power source through Peak Shift. It is available in two colors, Urban Gray and gleaming Ice Gray and the starting price is $499.99.
Dell 27 USB-C Ultrathin monitor has a 27 inches and a 5.5-millimeter profile. It also features the InfinityEdge display which gives a wide-angle viewing enabled by In-Plane Switching technology and Quad HD resolution. It has a peak brightness of 600 nits for the ultimate in contrast and clarity and a 99 percent sRGB and 90 percent DCI-P3 color coverage. It can quickly power up the device with one of the USB downstream ports. It has a flicker-free screen with ComfortView.
The SE line is basically entry-level monitors and comprises of the SE2219H (21.5 inches), the SE2419H (23.8 inches) and SE2719H (27 inches). On the first two models, the stands are now 30 percent smaller. On the Dell 27 monitor, the stand is 10 percent smaller. It offers a wide 178°/178° viewing angles due to the In-plane switching technology.
