Presently a student of International Relations at Jadavpur University. Writing has always been a form of an escape for me. The drone industry has seen a revolution with the introduction of the DJI Mavic 4 Pro, which we see as the latest in the company’s line of professional and consumer-grade drones. At B&H Photo and Video, the Mavic 4 Pro is available now. It brings to the table a set of very innovative features that raise the bar for what we think of as the standard for drone pilots, filmmakers, and content creators.

A New Era in Imaging

At the core of the Mavic 4 Pro is a new Hasselblad L2D-20c camera, which was designed for DJI, and we see it built on a 4/3 CMOS sensor, a step up from the 1-inch sensor present in the previous version, the Mavic 3 Pro. We see this to be a large improvement in that it captures more light, results in better dynamic range, enhanced low-light performance, and greater color detail.

The Mavic 4 Pro also features 20 megapixel stills, and it is able to record video in 5.7K at 60fps, which also includes 4K at a very smooth 120fps, great for slow motion. Also, it comes with 10-bit D-Log M and HLG color profiles, which in turn give you a professional level of flexibility in post production.

Intelligent Flight Features Redefined

DJI has been at the head of innovation in smart flight systems, and the Mavic 4 Pro, which we put forward this time, does very well. We see in it the company’s best yet in terms of a drone which is equipped with O4+ (OcuSync 4 Plus) technology, which puts out a 1080p/60fps live feed and which has an extended range up to 20 kilometers in ideal conditions. Also, this technology reports back with very little delay and very reliable performance in the most complex of environments.

A key feature of the Mavic 4 Pro is the enhanced APAS 6.0, which uses a set of all-direction sensors to identify and steer clear of obstacles in real time. When flying through forests, urban settings, or tight indoor spaces, the Mavic 4 Pro will auto-re-route or hover to avoid collision, a must-have safety feature for new and experienced fliers.

The FocusTrack set, which includes ActiveTrack 6.0, Spotlight, and Point of Interest, has been overhauled. In ActiveTrack 6.0 we see improved and more intelligent tracking, which is now present in high contrast settings and also when the subject is briefly out of view. Also, we have smarter AI, which identifies the subject better, which in turn allows for the easy handling of very dynamic shots with very little manual intervention.

Unrivaled Battery Life and Flight Performance

Flight time is a primary feature for drone pilots, which the Mavic 4 Pro does not fail to deliver on. We see up to 46 minutes of flight time, which in turn enables extended shoot sessions and better area coverage per charge. Also, this is a moderate but significant improvement over the Mavic 3 series due to better motor efficiency and improved battery management.

It has a speed of approximately 47 mph (75 kph), and it’s very stable in winds up to 7 levels, which means it does very well in a variety of weather. When you’re shooting in the wind at the coast or high altitudes, the Mavic 4 Pro will stay right on target.

Streamlined Post-Production and Workflow

For those who worry about workflow, we present to you the updated DJI Cloud Sync and QuickTransfer 2.0, which we have incorporated into the product. Also, we have put out Waypoints 2.,0 which enables users to plan out complex flights in advance with the same results each time, great for time lapse video or architectural survey.

Eco-System Compatibility

The DJI Mavic 4 Pro is to use all of DJI’s accessory products, which include the DJI RC Pro controller, ND filters, and the new generation Fly More Combo, which includes extra batteries, propellers, and a compact carry case. Also, DJI has improved its DJI Fly app, which has a very intuitive interface and also adds more editing tools for our users, allowing them to shoot, edit, and share right from their mobile device.
