The founder of SpaceX, Tesla, and Neuralink, Elon Musk, is in talks with the Israeli government to build tunnels in the country. The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed its recent campaign Musk’s Boring Co. tunneling business that could help boost much-needed infrastructure development in Israel.
The Boring Company, a venture the entrepreneur began two years ago, has been aiming to reassure local legislators that the answers to their traffic woes are building lots of tunnels. The perfect kind of solution for Israel, which suffers from a beleaguered public transportation system and the worst traffic in the developed world.
Musk and Netanyahu talked about the new tunnel project over breakfast, discussing Israel’s transportation network and the tunneling technology. Israel’s public transportation system is beset by one of the developed world’s most congested traffic patterns issues while the country’s traffic rises.
Musk had previously contended his tunnel business as a sideline enthusiasm that started as a joke. In 2016, a frustrated Musk set out in a plan to start digging tunnels to provide an alternative to Los Angeles’ congested highways. Apparently, the joke has turned into something very real, and Israel is just interested in bringing this reality across the country as well.
