Embracer Group Acquires Dark Horse US Third-largest Comics Publisher

Sweden-based game holding firm Embracer Group has acquired Dark Horse, a leading American-based entertainment company. Dark Horse will mark the tenth operative group of the Embracer group alongside THQ Nordic, Koch Media, Gearbox, and more. The agreement allows the company to expand into fields outside the gaming industry,

I have to say, the future for our company has never looked brighter,” says Mike Richardson, founder and CEO of Dark Horse.

The American-based entertainment company was founded way back then in 1986 by Mike Richardson. The company initially aimed to create a consummate environment for intellectual professionals.

In Dark Horse, every writer and artist was considered an asset, in any circumstances, the company wanted to explore the latent of the creators to restore the wisdom that they could exhibit with the magnificence, the simple aphorism grabbed the attention of top creators, after thirty years the company has become the third-largest comics publication house in the United States, and also the company holds a successful track of producing films and TV series as well. 

“Through the acquisition, Embracer strengthens its transmedia capabilities by adding expertise in content development, comic book publishing, and film and television production. Dark Horse owns or controls more than 300 intellectual properties, many of which are attractive for future transmedia exploitation, including the creation of new video games, “Embracer groups said in a statement.
