Facebook Messenger is one of the most widely-used platforms for instant messaging globally. With over 2 million new groups created on Messenger daily, it is safe to say that the app has many users in India. The expanding user base has prompted the social media giant to continuously evolve, bringing in innovative features to stay relevant among its competitors. The latest Messenger update brings Admin privileges to Groups in Messenger.
The new Facebook Messenger group chats feature gives users the ability to keep group chats on lockdown. Also, admins can add and remove members and promote and demote users with admin privileges of their own.
Now the ones in a chat can share “joinable links” to invite others into the conversation, and an admin setting – you can turn it on or off – allows you to approve newcomers before they get access. You can throw people out if they misbehave.
This is especially helpful in large group chats with people you may not yet be connected to, like when you’re planning a friend’s surprise birthday party with different groups of friends – Drew Moxon, Messenger product manager
The reactions regarding the new additions to the app have been mixed, ranging from praises to absolute disapproval.
