Facebook is always focused on making several changes to its app. Facebook is, therefore, working on bringing a couple of significant improvements to the video features for its Android app, something which has been a weak point of social media for quite some time now on the Android platform.

Now, the Android users of Facebook will finally be able to upload videos in High-Definition (HD) resolutions.

Upload Videos in HD

This feature is already present on iOS for a long time, but now it will also be seen on Android apps. While some users are seeing this change on the general release of the Android app, others can only see it on the beta channel.

The Android Police, a technical website first noticed the option in the Facebook app’s Settings menu. The users will have to head to the settings menu to find an option reading “Upload videos in HD” right beneath the option for uploading photos in HD.

Picture-in-Picture Video Testing

Other than the upload videos in HD feature all the other features are under testing and have started to roll out slowly. The picture-in-picture video is similar to how chat heads of Facebook Messenger can draw over other apps; this will require giving permission to the Facebook app to draw over other apps.

Offline Viewing of Downloaded Videos

This feature allows the user to download videos for offline viewing similar to what Netflix is offering. Facebook too is looking to allow users to download videos that can be viewed in offline mode.

Selecting explicit video playback quality

Apart from introducing new HD video options to the Facebook video player in the app, Facebook is also working to allow users to select the resolution for video playback like YouTube allows. Facebook will also provide options for the users to select the desired playback quality for their videos.

Easier notifications browsing

The new update has been added with options that will make it easy for the users to browse through all the notifications. While reading, and clicking on Facebook notifications, in the early versions we had to go back and choose the other notification in the top view. Now, two arrows have been added to the individual notifications view, using which users can easily move up and down through the notifications, without having to go back to the top view of the Notifications section. This feature will save a lot of time users which was consumed while browsing.

Floating Video Windows

Another feature that Facebook is testing with a small group of users is the floating video windows, which allow the users to watch videos on Facebook while using other apps.
