Facebook today launched Moments, a new standalone app to organize all your photos in a single place and share them privately with your friends. Today smartphone users capture their best moments with their friends but find it difficult to collect all photos together in a single place.
In a blog post, the company says, “With a phone at everyone’s fingertips, the moments in our lives are captured by a new kind of photographer: our friends. It’s hard to get the photos your friends have taken of you, and everyone always insists on taking that same group shot with multiple phones to ensure they get a copy. Even if you do end up getting some of your friends’ photos, it’s difficult to keep them all organized in one place on your phone.”
Moments lets you sync all your photos on your phone using facial recognition technology and automatically tags your friend’s grouping photos based on when they were taken. After the sync is complete you can share the photos quickly and easily with your friends and your friends can also choose to sync their photos with you as well.
With the app, you can also search for the photos of your friends you are looking for. You can enable or disable tag setting in your account setting page if you do not wish to tag some photos.
The app is created by Creative Labs app and is available for iOS and Android users in the US. The company says it will be rolled out in some other countries in the coming months. iOS users can download Moments from the App Store and here is the link for Android users to download the app from Google Play.
