Facebook Messenger Introduces 360-degree Photos and Hd Videos

With an increasingly technology-savvy age, visual -language is taking over the written form. In such a scenario, especially in the case of social networking sites (such as Facebook) and freeware and cross-platform messaging and Voice over IP (VoIP) services (like WhatsApp), stickers and emoticons, and GIFs are ruling the roost over words for expressive, emotional communication.

Only recently in this year, Facebook came up with photos, videos, stickers, and GIFs in Messenger for all its users. And now it is all set to upscale these features with the advanced feature of 360-degree photos in Messenger.

Starting today, stunning 360-degree photos including panoramic photos enable the users to bring in their real-life 360-degree grid view of the world, covering natural landscapes to the bird-eye city view from one’s apartment balcony, etc. The world that the human eye perceives can now be easily caught in all its immersive vitality and held up for friends to see in Messenger.

Not only this, but last fall saw Facebook Messenger introduce high-resolution photo news, and adding to that, Facebook is also launching the feature of sharing high-definition quality videos in Messenger.

On the heels of our high resolution photo news introduced last fall, we’re also launching the ability to share HD quality videos straight to Messenger. – stated Sean Kelly and Hagen Green, Product Managers at Messenger, in a blog post.

In the line with smartphones, now Facebook Messenger users can share HD quality, 720p videos directly from their camera roll. In order to explore these features, all one needs to do is update the Messenger app. Then, the phone camera is to be set to panorama to allow sharing of 360-degree photos. After capturing a photo or a 360-degree photo with a 360 camera or photo app, one just needs to share it in Messenger following which, Messenger will convert it to a sharply detailed, realistic photo that the friends can experience on their mobile phones by simply tapping and dragging the photo or by moving the phone. The users can enjoy the slice-of-life effect of the 360-degree photos on Messenger.com by clicking and dragging.

Moving on to HD videos, the users can share videos from their newsfeed, or the videos saved on their phones, to a video from one message thread to another, with the HD quality retained in the, received video. Messenger makes both 360-degree photos and HD videos easy to identify by the users. There is a compass icon on the right-hand side of a panoramic photo that marks the 360-degree photos. As for the HD videos, they are easily recognizable with an HD or SD marker. For users who like to customize the quality, it is easy to change the quality right from the marker on the lower right side during full-screen mode.

Messenger introduces 360-degree photos globally on both iOS and Android devices. The much-hyped HD quality videos are available on iOS and Android across numerous countries such as Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, the UK and the US, and so on. This is news to rejoice for all the Messenger fans, and what’s more, we await 1080p videos to come up in Messenger next, and soon!
