Yesterday, January 28, Facebook brought new privacy control and user data management tools to make it all easier for you. The newness is a part of the social media platform’s celebration of Data Privacy Day, and it includes an education campaign sharing its privacy principles for further clarity.

Facebook began providing educational videos via the News Feed for the educational campaign. These videos include topics like ‘how to control your shared data,’ ‘how Facebook uses the information to show ads,’ ‘reviewing and deleting old posts,’ and even scenarios behind the deletion of your account.

These videos further contain Facebook privacy principles, and more related topics will be added over the year, as Facebook says. It as well invites the users to go through its Privacy Checkup as an extension of the campaign for a better experience in managing data.

Additionally, Facebook is collecting feedback from users, privacy experts, and even policymakers of the world to make the chief privacy settings ‘easier to find.’ Presently designing, the new privacy center will be introduced within this year, and it will have all the chief settings in one place.

Next is the most important element that shows further openness of the social media giant to the users. For the first time ever, Facebook shared its Privacy Principles with its users in order to reach them with enhanced clarity. These involve the topics like how the policies and security systems are designed and more relevant working aspects of the social media.

Last but not least, Facebook is working on resources to help other companies in terms of privacy services. This involves arranging for workshops on data protection for small and medium businesses. The entire year will see more of the same that already started in Brussels about a week ago. The ‘Design Jams’ hosted by the social media invites privacy experts, regulators, designers, and developers around the world to come together and create educative ways for online users on privacy control and data management.

On an inferring note, Facebook believes in the approach that ‘Improvement is constant’ and hints that newer controls and tools will keep on coming in the future for the users. The company invests in not just research but also the collaboration with experts like privacy professionals, regulators etc., all of which is further evident in its aforementioned workshops.
