The Creators and Publishers can now manage their Intellectual Property on Facebook. Facebook wants to make sure that it is a safe and valuable place for creators to share their content.
Facebook has built tools like Rights Manager in Creator Studio for assisting creators and publishers with a large or growing catalogue of content. This can be done by controlling better how and where their content is shared across Facebook and Instagram.
Facebook has introduced the Rights Manager for Images today. It is a new version of Rights Manager that uses image-matching technology to help creators and publishers protect and manage their image content on a broader scale.
If the user intends to access the Rights Manager, the Page admins can submit an application for the content they have created and want to protect their intellectual property. The rights Manager will find matching content on Facebook and Instagram.
There will be adjustable content to match things like ownership that should apply worldwide or only in certain locations. The rights Manager will use a screenshot for such vigilance.
In addition to the free content management tools, Facebook would also offer services to counter infringement. Facebook would also have a fast and effective IP reporting system, a repeat infringer policy and other measures. The protection of intellectual property is thus an important part of Facebook’s Terms of Service.
