A recent interview with Square Enix’s video game producer disclosed further details about the Final Fantasy 16 release date, story, and development update. Only a little amount of work is still needed to finish the game, which is believed to be approximately 95% complete.
The franchise has undergone tremendous change over the years, eschewing its conventional turn-based origins in favor of advancements like real-time combat.
Final Fantasy 16 release date announcement
Recently, Hiroshi Takai and Naoki Yoshida participated in a Famitsu interview on Final Fantasy 16. The interview not only provides fresh details on Final Fantasy 16 but also says that it is almost ready for release and that a date reveal will occur before the end of 2022. So fans may expect the release date announcement in just a couple of weeks.
He responds to the question of when Final Fantasy will be released by saying, “We plan to reveal the information again later this year, so I guess we can tell it at that time. Since I don’t believe it will last through the summer, I believe it is okay.” So, summer 2023 is the anticipated release date for Final Fantasy 16.
Final Fantasy 16 story and development update
When Takai is questioned about the game’s development during the conversation, he responds that it is 95 percent done and nearly completed. Takai continued by noting that the team’s primary focus is on bug fixes and performance improvements. “Currently, we play through the game day by day, correcting the clunky sections and polishing the areas with performance or drawing problems.”
Takai added that the team is now concentrating primarily on debugging and smoothing out any problematic game elements that may require more attention.
He says, referring to the story or the idea behind Final Fantasy 16, “Final Fantasy 16’s primary focus was the Eikons from the very beginning of the project. Since summons plays a significant role in the Final Fantasy series as a whole, we believed that if we were going to depict the Eikons, we should make sure that they were properly integrated into the story rather than treated as simple spells or skills.”
Fans of Final Fantasy should now hold off until the team makes an official statement. Let’s see whether we receive a trailer or an official statement announcing the release date.
