According to a Bloomberg report, Apple has hired former Tesla’s Autopilot software head, Christopher Moore in order to achieve its Titan project.
Apple has been working on a self-driving car, codenamed ‘Project Titan,’ for about 5 years. The leadership and personnel appear eager to complete this job as quickly as possible.
Christopher Moore is well-known for his squabbles with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, in which the former would usually refute the latter’s claims, with one such instance involving Level 5 Autonomy, in which Moore stated that Musk’s claim that Tesla would achieve this level of autonomy in a few years was unrealistic.
As of this writing, little is known about Apple’s self-driving software, with the Cupertino company apparently testing a few prototype versions of its self-driving cars in California, with the system depending on LiDAR sensors and video cameras.
Former leader Doug Field defected to Ford earlier this year, causing a setback. As of the time of writing, it appears that Apple will find a partner to produce the automobile based on its design, with prior rumors claiming that the corporation was looking for a battery maker for the Apple Car in June.
Foxconn, one of the top iPhone assemblers, has expressed interest in becoming a car contracting firm. Still, there has been no tangible indication that the two companies will collaborate on the new Apple Car.
However, in other Apple news, new OLED panels could be used in the upcoming iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models. According to reports, the Cupertino-based tech behemoth will use a new screen technology that will provide more brightness than the company’s current tablet and laptop models.
According to a previous report, LCD panels may be phased out in favor of small LED screens in the iPad line of goods. The upgraded display panel was only available on the 12.7-inch iPad Pro model. On the other hand, the iPad Pro 11-inch model retained its LCD display.
Overall, a series of reports indicated that by 2022, Apple will use small LED displays on its iPad Pro series and the new MacBook Air. More details concerning the display of the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro models have now leaked online.
