Fortnite servers are down today and will remain in this state for several hours. Epic Games has confirmed that they have scheduled the downtime for the popular game Fortnite for February 20, 2020 down due to maintenance.
Fortnite’s Chapter 2 Season 2 is coming this year, and the new chapter will include map changes, new features, and of course a fresh Battle Pass. The downtime is mainly done to make way for the Chapter 2 Season 2.
Usually, the downtime meant for games does not last for more than a couple of hours. However, Fortnite’s developers have mentioned that the latest update will be larger than usual, meaning it would take longer than usual for the game to come back online again. The patching process will also take longer than usual.
Fortnite server maintenance has been scheduled to start at 9 am GMT, and as per the notes from its developers will be down for several hours. According to a news source, Fortnite should be back up online by 12 pm GMT. In all probability, it should come back up online before the estimated time.
During this maintenance, Epic Games will share new information about Fortnite’s new chapter, and probably announce the new changes made in the game. Epic Games is also expected to release a new trailer for the same.
After the developers are done with updating it, and done with the patching process, the gamers need to download a new Fortnite update. As mentioned before, the update will be larger in size, and hence will need more time to update than usual.
Fortnite Battle Royale is free to play the game on a number of different platforms, including PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Mobile. However, the new update will also offer a more expensive premium option for the Fortnite Battle Pass.
In other news, Fortnite Save the World will also be updated today. However, this game is available only to those who have purchased the game.
