More Updates to Fortnite World Cup Finals

Fortnite Island is officially the Big Apple!

New York City is hosting the culmination of Season 9. Over 10 weeks of grueling play, some 40 million players battled on the island to climb the rankings for a chance at the big bucks. There are just 100 solo players left and 50 duos teams remaining. Who will be the last standing?

Top betting sites such as Heritage Sports have odds on the event. Let’s look at the competition and what probabilities those betting odds imply.

The Tournament

The Pro-Am Tournament kicks off at 4 PM ET on Friday the 26th. The Pro-Am show will run for three hours before the festivities end for the day.

Day 2 (Saturday) belongs to the Duos teams. The festival begins at 9:30 AM and the Pre-Show starts at 12:30. Once everyone is warmed up and having a great time, the real action fires off at 1:00 PM to determine who is the best Fortnite Duos team in the world. By 4 PM we’ll have that answer, and the winner’s ceremony will take place shortly after, at 4:45 PM ET.

Fortnite World Cup Creative

Day 3 is the big daddy for the Fortnite World Cup Finals. On Sunday, July 28th the top 100 qualified solo players will jump off the Battle Bus and start slinging hot lead around the island. The schedule runs identical to Saturday, with three hours of pro Fortnite action starting at 1 PM, with the winner officially crowned at 4:45 ET.

Ground-Breaking

If you weren’t already aware, the prize pool is setting new standards for eSports … well for pretty much anything. All of the players who qualified are guaranteed $50,000.00 each. So, some of these dual-qualified pros who made it in solo as well as on a duos team are already walking out of NYC with a cool $100,000.00. First place for each event is an astounding $3,000,000.00!

Many complained about the rankings system during qualifications. They felt that it was too reliant on eliminations instead of victories and placement. This could also come into play in the Finals, as it’s points-based. Each elimination is worth 1 point, while a Victory Royale is worth 10 points. 2nd through 5th is worth 7 points, 6th through 15th is worth 5 points, and 16th through 25th is worth 3 points. I bring this up because aggressive players that get a lot of kills could score high enough to move on. For example, a 5th place player or team that gets four more kills than the Victory Royale team will effectively win. So, in the Fortnite World Cup Finals, the strategy of hanging back to let the field eliminate itself is by no means a sure path to victory.

The Odds

It should be expected, but Tfue is at the top of the odds boards to win the solos division at +1400, which implies a 6.7% chance of winning the tournament.  Next in line is Stompy at +1500, implying a 6.3% chance of winning it all. Bizzle, Dubs, and MrSavageM all come in at +1600, while Benjyfishy and Mongraal are just behind at +1700.  Clix is sitting at +2000, with Reversion, Zayt, and Aua all tied at +2500 to round out the top ten (top 11).

Duos are led by Tschinken & Stompy at +700, showing a whopping 12.5% probability of taking home the $3,000,000.00! The duo of Benjyfishy & MrSavageM is right behind at +800 (8 to 1). The winner of the Duos is likely coming out of these two teams. Stompy and Tschinken’s run through the Online Open Qs was amazing. They have by far the best chemistry, and their aggressive style is perfectly suited for the points system in play.
