It seems like Fossil is coming up with a new range of smartwatches featuring e-ink and it will likely be a Wear OS watch. We found some leaked image of the watch on the internet and the responses from the viewers are positive.
This is the first digital and analog hybrid smartwatch by Fossil. The smartwatch has a traditional look though it has some modern characteristics.
According to the reports, there is a high chance of the company collaborating with Google. The smartwatch will have an e-ink display but will come without the touch screen.
The images indicate that the screen shows heart rate, steps, weather, and notifications. The Fossil Collider Hybrid smartwatch HR has an inbuilt fitness app that takes after Google Fit. In addition to these, some variants of the smartwatch come with built-in GPS and Google Pay features.
This range of watches have 42 mm stainless steel cases and are covered with strong mineral glass. Moreover, the dial supports 10 different face elements to liven up your smartwatch experience.
The time can be automatically synchronized with your phone. You can easily connect it to your iPhone or Android phones via Bluetooth and can view all the statistics in detail such as calories, steps, sleep and more. One can also control the watch with the active right button.
These hybrid smartwatches have an excellent battery life since they run on the low power e-ink technology. As it was reported, the smartwatches can continue their work for a maximum of 4 weeks on a single charge.
It is hinted that the smartwatches will be introduced as ‘Diana‘ and will be a product of joint collaboration between Fossil and Google. This new Fossil Collider Diana hybrid technology was licensed by Google at an amount of $40 million at the start of this year and a part of Fossil’s 200 strong R&D team joined the Google team reportedly.
Greg McKelvey, the chief commercial officer of Fossils said that the collaboration will result in the launch of “a new product innovation that’s not yet hit the market”. He is hopeful that this new innovation will benefit the company before it goes to the other manufacturers.
There is a possibility of Fossil and Google collaboration. The companies are still silent. However, the listings suggest that the watches may retail for around $225.
There is a Google event this October, we hope to see the buzz-worthy smartwatches in the event. Till then lets wait and see what more details we can get on the watches.
