In November 2018, LetsGoDigital announced that the name of Samsung’s folding smartphone would most likely be Galaxy Fold, based on a trademark the Korean manufacturer submitted to ensure brand protection.
LetsGoDigital then visualized the foldable phone by making 3D renders of the model that was shown in November 2018 during the Developer Conference. Now the time of speculation is finally over; Samsung has officially announced its first foldable device!
Foldable phone with six cameras
The new smartphone from Samsung has an Infinity Flex display; this is the large 7.3-inch flexible screen on the inside of the device. There is a sort of wide notch in which a dual camera is processed. These are not the only cameras the revolutionary phone is equipped with. There are six cameras in total. One on the front, two on the inside, and three on the back.
The Galaxy Fold is powered by a 7nm processor with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The memory can also be expanded with a memory card. Thanks to the large display, the powerful processor, and the enormous amount of memory, the newest addition of Samsung is also very suitable for mobile gaming.
Foldable Android smartphone
The foldable device runs on a modified Android OS in combination with the One UI skin from Samsung. With the foldable Galaxy smartphone, you can use three apps at the same time. This is the first time. During the product presentation, the One UI interface was given an extensive demonstration.
This way, when the Fold is completely folded open, you can use the left side for one app. At the same time, you can show two apps above each other on the right half of the screen. For example, the YouTube app was shown on the left, and a messenger and browser app was on the other. You can decide for yourself which app is displayed where simply by making a swipe movement on the screen.
The fingerprint scanner is not placed on the screen but on the side of the mobile device. In addition, the Samsung Galaxy Fold is equipped with stereo speakers tuned by AKG. The foldable Samsung smartphone has two batteries. The total capacity is significantly lower than expected, namely 4,830 mAh. We will have to wait for the first expert reviews to see what this will mean in practice.

The foldable phone from Samsung will be available in America from April 26, 2019. In Europe, we will have a week longer patience; the launch date is planned here on May 3, 2019. A pre-order placement is already made possible immediately. Consumers can buy the Galaxy Fold in four different colors; Space Silver, Cosmos Black, Martian Green, and Astro Blue.
