While the latest update of Genshin Impact 2.7 has been delayed due to complications in Shanghai regarding the pandemic situation, Hoyoverse hasn’t held back on the next round of updates. After announcing the beta testing for patch 2.8 in the last week, they have begun hiring beta testers for the game in China, according to leaks.

The lockdowns in Shanghai have slowed down the development process for Genshim Impact which has affected patch 2.7, causing the developers to release a third phase of the previous update of 2.6, which is the first in the history of the game to have Phase 3. Additionally, the Serenitea Teapot is still under maintenance with the players being compensated in Realm Currency every week.

Genshin Impact version 2.8 is in the Process of Beta Testing

Version 3.0 had been expected to arrive after the release of the 2.8 updates, which likely contained the Dendro Nation of Sumeru. However, the delay has led players to believe that some updates such as 2.8 might be scrapped to make way for the bigger update of the new section of the map. Inazuma characters have yet to have their rerun banners where players might get another chance to get the Electro characters, and they have been waiting for the next round of updates.

Since delaying the release further could have negative implications, the game is getting ready to release the updates as intended without keeping its players waiting for too long. Reliable leaks have claimed that Hoyoverse’s beta testing for Genshin Impact 2.8 has begun, which makes it clear that they do not intend to postpone the 2.8 updates further.

Genshin Impact 2.8: What to Expect?

Some aspects of the 2.7 update are being moved to the 2.8 version, including Yelan, the five-star Hydro bow user, and Kuki Shinobu, the four-star Electro healer. There will also be a new music-based event that will feature Itto’s drum as well as a robot-making Teapot event. Itto is likely to be released in the second half of the rerun banners.

The new leaks reveal Heizou, who is a four-star character, as well as others like Yoimiya and Kazuha. It is expected that the Golden Apple Archipelago will make a comeback before the final update of Sumeru. The Battle Pass might also be shortened, with the EXP required to level up decreasing from 1000 to 600.

For all the delay and to compensate the players for their patience, Hoyoverse will be dishing out 200 Primogems every week from 11th May.
