The Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) has updated its AI Principles, first issued in 2019, and is now producing helpful instruments like readiness indicators and implementation roadmaps. This allows countries to quantify their progress and benchmark policies in an orderly way.
Similarly, UNESCO’s ethics guidelines and toolkits are being adopted by the majority of worldwide governments as the foundation for public-sector deployment of AI. They emphasize human rights, accountability, and transparency, giving countries, particularly those lacking the capacity to develop elaborate legislation, and off-the-shelf solutions to work under.
