Despite the ongoing pandemic, massive chip shortage, and supply curtailment, total PC shipments surpassed the gigantic 348.8 million units in 2021, an increase 15% from that of 2020 and the largest shipment total since 2012, according to a new report released on Wednesday, Jan 12.

Even in the few days of 2022, the PC market has departed and rebuilt the constant growth. The IDC report also showed that in the last quarter of last year, the total PC shipments had outstripped a massive 92.7 million units for the straight second year in a line. The Canalys data shows that global PC shipments rose 1 percent annually to 92 million units in Q4, over 91 million a year ago.

Amid cargo, Lenovo secured first place with loads marked a vast 22.7 million units alongside a market share of 23.4%. At the same time, other brands have contributed considerably to building a “top six-table,” including HP, Dell, Apple, Asus, and Acer. To understand the shipment’s growth and shrinking, we must look into the products launched under the brand’s name. If we take Lenovo, for instance, it was established that a few great products in the last year, it doesn’t mean other entrants haven’t produced a good number of products to place in the list, it’s wholly inclined on the equilibrium and the embroiled approach of the customer getting on for the product.

Still, Lenovo’s market share has gradually declined compared to the same period of 2021, whereas brands like Apple, HP have outperformed in numbers compared to 2020. In the top five list, HP, Dell, Apple, Lenovo, Acer have seen good growth except for Lenovo, Acer, HP, which stills lack behind in the number despite placed in the Top 5 podium. It seems the top three brands, Lenovo, HP, Dell, have swept 60% of the market share.

In the first place, we can’t question or neglect it because the firms mentioned above stunned the customers with powerful machines. Howbeit, Apple’s shipments growths have been inclined by reaching 22.1%. Apple’s M1 processor created a massive diversion among people to choose their products over others, and it wouldn’t fail as the company’s most PC shipments comes from the PC equipped with M1 series processors. As we close in on to get used to the pandemic and become more familiar with the term Covid, Omicron, and workstations start closing down for a few more months. Synchronously the demand for PC is getting higher; perhaps tech giants will take over the current situation to build more machines considering the market’s pristine year. Yet we only hope the case has already gone through the forecast area.
