This week, Google has come up with new measures to enhance users’ account security which contains a complete overhaul of the safety center. That is to say, if an account with any malicious or suspicious activity gets identified, a pop-up notification will appear in the form of notification to any of Google’s application that the user will use at that time.
Google also plans to include a guest mode to Google Assistant in order to prevent user interaction with Google Assistant from getting recorded. Before the introduction of this new safety measure to prevent accounts from getting mal-handled, in 2015, Google used emails to notify users of any suspicious activity that was noticed in their accounts.
The email then used the Android alert function to alert its user within a minimum of one hour after receiving the notification. However, there are instances when Android users do not check notification quite often, thus Google has decided to use the pop-up function and display the notification in any Google program that the user will be using if they observe any serious malicious activity in that user’s account.
This will reduce the user’s burden to check email or Android alerts in order to take action. Moreover, the fact that it will be directly coming from Google to any Google program, will provide users the assurance that the message is not coming from any harmful or malicious group.
Although the new function might sound very useful to users, it must be noted that the function won’t be available on a wider scale before the beginning of the coming year. In addition to the security alert, Google has also worked on the Google Assistant in order to introduce a Guest mode of it.
Keeping in mind the fact that users do not always want their interaction and user details getting recorded, Google has come up with this Guest mode which will enable users to switch to Guest mode through voice and can command Google to not record the interaction.
However, unlike the former one, this feature will be made available in the upcoming weeks. In order to deploy the features, Google’s security center has decided to list 13 Google services like Gmail, Chrome, YouTube, etc., to provide a privacy guideline to the users which will enable them to understand the settings better.
This has been launched in the United States and is expected to be coming to the global market soon.
