Google’s latest TV Streamer is replacing the Chromecast with Google TV. Even though this particular device has been discontinued, Google has declared that it will still provide regular software updates from it. In lieu of this decision, it has been declared that Android 14 will be included in this update. On the declaration of the product’s dismissal for future regeneration, Google is trying its level best to sell out the Chromecast.
It has been announced by the Product Manager of Google TV that there will be significant differences between the two kinds of television. The new TV Streamer will be indeed superior in terms of new features compared to the Chromecast with Google TV. It has been specifically mentioned that the Android 14 version of the Chromecast will not have similar Thread functionality compared to the TV Streamer owing to structural differences in the hardware.
The update is not something unexpected considering the fact that Google has previously promised consumers software updates and security checks before discontinuing the Chromecast with Google TV. The Android 14 update is being regarded as the second OS upgrade for the 4K version and the first major upgrade for the HD version, respectively.
There has been no official declaration of the rollout timeline of the Android 14 version upgrade. However, there has been a vague indication of the release which is supposed to take place later this year. One thing which is confirmed are the new features that will be accompanying the Android 14 update, since it had been declared previously in May at the Google I/O. It is therefore needless to state that, Google’s decision to provide for regular updates will be definitely appreciated by the consumers.
