As per the received information, it is said that Google Hangouts for the users/consumers will shut down in the year 2020. This news was very much expected as almost a year ago, Google essentially stopped the development on the app. 2019 will be the last year for all the users to use their most liked chat app, so don’t miss it.
9to5Google said that ” based on a source familiar with the product’s internal roadmap, Google Hangouts as a consumer product will come to an end in 2020″.
Earlier also, Google announced about its axis for its Hangout series to endeavor cases related to Hangout Meet and Hangout Chat which spoke a lot about the current announcement for the expiration of the Hangout app.
After the desertion of the app regarding its development and assumption regarding its demise, people have already stopped using it. However, the Hangout is static in the Gmail as an option for chatting with people and friends. An app is constant on the Google Play Store till date.
Though there are few people who are complaining about some issues coming up in the app, bugs, and performance issues.
The Hangout will be available on G Suite’s Hangout Meet and Hangouts Chat which is also a communication app mostly used for video meeting. Google Voice calling was first launched independently and after that, it was merged into Hangouts which was again sent back to its own redesigned app earlier this year.
Google also transitioned its consumer-facing messaging, Hangout as an app was amongst the few first apps to get new MMS and RCS functionality for Android with WhatsApp and Android Messages.
Hangout also suffered an identity crisis after it was launched as a replacement for Gchat, also it lost features like the company stopped the app and it took away SMS messaging in recent years. The reports of RCS messaging coming in 2019 totally justifies the shutting of Google Hangout in 2020.
