Google Meet will be making some new features available for its Workspace and free users. The features have been designed in such a way that will make meeting control a lot easier for meeting hosts. Hosts would now be able to set limits to who can share the screen, and they can also mute all participants at once.

The search giant explained that the new features are in response to some of the most sought-after features by its current users. Amongst the newly added features is the ability to add up to 25 co-hosts per meeting, new safety features and moderation, and an updated Quick access setting. Noteworthy, however, is the fact that Google has mentioned that it is not all their users that will have access to all the features.

In an explanatory post on its Workspace blog, Google explained that Google Meet users would be able to grant co-hosting rights of a meeting to 25 other people. All of the co-hosts will have access and be able to use all the controls the original host has access to.

Through the Quick access settings, both the hosts and co-hosts now have the full power to control who can join the meeting, limit who can share their screens or send chat messages, mute all participants in the meeting, or end the entire meeting for all.

Google has also updated the People panel. The search giants achieved this by enabling the option to search for a participant in the meeting. This is what will allow a host to quickly pick out a particular user to either mute their microphone, grant the co-hosting rights, or totally evict them from the ongoing meeting. All co-hosts will be identifiable by a security shield icon.

The moderation and safety controls would be available to all Google Meet users. The Quick access setting would be available to all users barring Google Workspace Individual and personal Google Account users.

In plain terms, the Quick access settings features would be available for Google Workspace Essentials, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Business Standard, Business Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Standard, Education Plus, and Teaching and Learning Upgrade customers. However, it will not be made available for Google Workspace Business Starter, Frontline, and Nonprofits, as well as G Suite Basic and Business customers.
