Since Google started to allow shopping on Search, it has been a big hit in India, and now it is announcing new features to improve the user experience. Google on Tuesday incorporated 20,000 Google My Business listings into the shopping experience on search, which will now allow automatic updates of listings on Google My Business along with local language support in India.
We’ve witnessed incredible momentum since then. Indian shoppers engage with this shopping experience more often, and for longer periods of time compared to other markets, and there are now over 200 million offers available on Google Shopping – Surojit Chatterjee, Vice President – Product Management, Google Shopping
Google My Business supports and allows any local retailer to create an online store and connect with shoppers searching for their products online. With the new updated features, product listings on Search will surface automatically as the retailer posts photos of their in-store products on the Google Shopping tab.
Google anticipates that over the next two to three years, about 500 million non-English speaking users are going to be online in India. And to serve these audiences efficiently and with a better shopping experience on Search, Google has announced support for Indian languages using Google Translate.
To enhance the shopping experience, Google is extending support for its native Indian languages and product listing on the shopping home page, starting with Hindi. Google is hoping to bring more power to Google shopping with these new features.
