Google helps Gringgo Indonesia Foundation to overcome plastic waste

The Gringgo Indonesia Foundation will receive support from Google to develop marine plastic waste prevention tools, and to monitor the amount of garbage disposal in real time. The aim of this effort is to help local governments, NGOs and private companies to better manage the process of waste disposal and increase recycling results.

Datanest.io (a startup company in the field of data and data science services) and Gringgo Indonesia Foundation wants to help developing countries deal with the ever-increasing urban waste crisis, and the problem of plastic waste in the oceans whose numbers are increasing. The two organizations are located in Indonesia: Datanest in Jakarta, while the Gringgo Foundation is in Bali.

What was done by the Gringgo Foundation received attention from the company Google Indonesia, Google welcomes the Gringgo Indonesia Foundation as a recipient of a grant from the Google AI Impact Challenge.

Founded in 2017, the Foundation plans to, form a variety of other plans, use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help scavengers recognize various types of waste faster, and help overcome the problem of waste in Indonesia that has never been completed.

Gringgo Indonesia Foundation is one of 20 nonprofit organizations and social business companies from 12 countries that received grants from the Google AI Impact Challenge, from a total of 2,600 participants. Gringgo Foundation will receive funding from a total of USD25 million in grants from Google.org, credit, and consultation from Google Cloud, and training from Google AI experts.
