A new report claims that Google’s upcoming smartwatch duos, the first to showcase Android Wear 2.0 are being built by LG. These two watches will be called LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style. To achieve this goal, Google has teamed up with LG in a Nexus-style partnership to produce the first devices powered by Android Wear 2.0.
The two companies will launch the upcoming watches on February 9 at an event for the platform’s official launch. It is reported that the LG-powered smartwatches will start shipping in the U.S. day after they are announced, according to marketing material shared with Venture Beat. These watches will be available in other regions from February and March, with the watches given prominent placement at Mobile World Congress, which starts on February 2017 in Barcelona.
Features of LG Watch Sport:
LG Watch Sport features a 1.38-inch display with a resolution of 480 X 480 circular plastic OLED touch screens and will be 14.2mm thin. It will also feature IP68 certification, 768MB, 4GB of storage, a 430 mAh battery, Wi-Fi, 3G and LTE, and Bluetooth. The watch will also come equipped with GPS, NFC, a heart-rate monitor, and Android Play. It will be available in two variants: Titanium and Dark Blue.
Features of LG Watch Style:
The LG Watch Style will have a 1.2-inch display at a resolution of 360 X 360 round P-OLED display panel. This watch will be thinner, coming in at 10.8mm in measurement. It features 512MB RAM, 4GB of storage space, 240 mAh battery, IP67 water, dust resistance and Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It will be available in Titanium, Silver, and Rose Gold variants. The LG Watch Style is also said to come with swappable strap support.
The most striking feature of the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style is that they have a digital crown button that aids navigation, and they both come in handwriting recognition. It is also equipped with Google Assistant to some extent.
