Last October saw, Google’s Pixel and Pixel 2 phones had a microphone issues, where it only worked in loudspeaker mode during calls. Now, Google has come up with ideal support, replacing with a new one and sometimes repairing the devices as well.
Orrin, the Community Manager at Pixel User Community, posted an update a few hours ago on the relevant thread in the forum. He acknowledged the issue and stated what the affected users should do as a resolution.
According to the post, the users with Pixel devices within warranty should contact Google 1:1 support ‘by going through the settings app,’ or ‘by clicking “contact us” in the upper right-hand corner of the Help Center.’ As for the ones with the devices out of warranty, they are requested to contact the authorized service partner. For all the affected Pixel 2 device owners, simply contacting the Google 1:1 support will do.
In the Product Forum of Google, we have noticed that most of the affected users were provided with replacements by the tech giant after they contacted the support. Additionally, one user reported that the replaced device had the same issue as well, along with random screen flashing problem. Google approved the request of the person and is sending him a third device.
In certain cases, Google provided the repair of the Pixel phones with the same mic issue. Although, these reports are only a handful.
Nonetheless, it is nice to see Google coming up with such a strong resolve, replacing the Pixel devices. Given that you are one of the affected, do contact the Google 1:1 support or the authorized service partner in your locality. Please let us know in comments if your Pixel or Pixel 2 phone with glitches has been successfully replaced or repaired. Keep an eye on this space for the next update.
